Why Rebank, Why Now

In 2016, I was new to London, new to fintech, and, frankly, a little out of my depth starting a new bank from scratch. My background was in investments, not banking or technology. I didn’t know much about financial infrastructure, payments or lending beyond what I’d encountered as a financial analyst. I did know that finance was changing – was on the verge of being overhauled with modern technology – and I wanted to understand how.

So I started Rebank — not as a media play or a commercial endeavor, but as a way to learn and make connections. The platform was a way to sit down with the smartest practitioners in the industry, ask the questions I didn’t yet know the answers to, and share those conversations publicly.

Recording a few casual conversations set off a journey that’s now approaching 1 million podcast downloads, hundreds of deep dive conversations, essays, reports, and collaborations, and an incredible community of builders, investors, and institutions who have come to see Rebank as a trusted voice at the frontier of financial innovation.

Fast forward to today. The world has changed again. The successes of fintech’s first cycle, built on cloud, mobile and APIs and defined by platforms like Nubank, Revolut, Robinhood, Monzo, Chime, Coinbase, Klarna, Betterment, and SoFi, have matured. Now, the back-end of finance is being rebuilt in real time: stablecoins, 24/7 instant payments, tokenized assets, and blockchain-based settlement rails are upgrading the financial system’s core.

The conversation around financial innovation has never been more important, and Rebank continues to offer a leading voice.

The Origin Story

Rebank was born out of curiosity.

Arriving in London in 2016, I didn’t have a network. I didn’t have a background in fintech. I did have goals for my work in this industry – aspirations to upgrade finance – and I had the nerve to reach out to the leaders in the space. Luckily for me, London was in many ways the epicenter of fintech in those years. Week after week, the conversations I recorded became a masterclass in fintech — payments, banking, lending, investing, crypto — delivered by the people building it in real time.

From the beginning, the ethos was simple: deep curiosity, sharp analysis, access to top practitioners, and honest, authentic conversations.

Rebank wasn’t just about documenting change. It was about synthesizing complexity into understanding and learning alongside the community. The goal wasn't to observe but to become a better practitioner, a more expert builder.

The Journey So Far

Over the last nine years, Rebank has grown with the industry.

  • 250+ deep-dive conversations, essays, and reports, dissecting every corner of fintech and institutional crypto.
  • Collaborations, practitioner guides, and industry events — including live events that brought together leaders defining the space.
  • A global audience of founders, investors, and institutions — the community that motivates our work to this day.

In parallel, I've applied what I've learned from Rebank across a range of businesses:

  • Allica Bank — now the UK’s fastest growing tech company.
  • Libeara, a tokenization business within Standard Chartered, where we built infrastructure for issuing and managing regulated digital assets, long before most of the market realized tokenization was inevitable.
  • And now, Uniform Labs, where we’re building the liquidity and settlement layer for tokenized finance — the backbone of the financial system upgrade currently underway.

Since day one, Rebank has been for practitioners, by practitioners.

Doubling Down on the Future

The first fintech cycle of front-end, orchestration layer, and business model improvement has intersected with the maturation of crypto, blockchain and digital assets infrastructure to kick off a new era of innovation.

Stablecoins are no longer fringe experiments — they’ve become systemic. Tokenized assets have attracted billions of dollars of AUM on public blockchains like Ethereum. Global financial incumbents are not just testing the rails but actually moving assets on-chain. Political support, regulatory clarity, infrastructure maturity, and institutional adoption are converging.

For the first time in my lifetime, the backend of the financial system is truly being upgraded — and at remarkable speed.

There's perhaps never been a transformation with more potential in finance, and it's being driven by the leaders, operators and executives we at Rebank know and interact with everyday.

Rebank, Reloaded: What to Expect

Rebank’s new identity reflects both where finance is headed and how we intend to engage:

Our branding is changing, but our purpose remains firm.

  • Community: the leading operators, investors, executives and policymakers in financial innovation.

Financial innovation is not just about efficiency improvement. It’s about creating a system with better outcomes for all people, all of the time. Our work today will define the next decades of finance.

Rebank is here to make that work less complex and more engaging — and to make sure that we're all a part of it.

Forward from Here

The infrastructure and leading institutions of global finance are being redefined in real time. Settlement cycles are collapsing. Stablecoins are becoming global settlement currencies. Tokenization is transforming how money, credit, and capital flow. Front-end and orchestration layer improvements are plugging in backend overhauls to create more performant companies. The incumbents of today may not be the leaders of tomorrow.

We are not just observers of this transition — we are the change agents. Rebank is here to dissect, synthesize, and amplify the insights that matter most.

To match the energy and speed of the industry today, we present Rebank, renewed: cleaner, sharper, faster. The same ethos, the same mission — refocused for the next phase of financial innovation.

I invite you to engage. Subscribe, share, and join the conversation.
